John Clark founded Clark's Register in 1996 as a mail order boutique committed to staying one step
ahead of the crowd. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he believed that fashion is evolving –
borrowing from the past to create the future. John's untimely death was a true loss. His passion and
infectious curiosity were an inspiration to everyone he knew. Tireless, John was a seeker.
Over dinner some years ago at Cibrèo in Florence, Italy, he described Clark's style as "Bohemian Preppy."
As we look ahead, John's memory and vision continue to be the heartbeat of our journey.
Clark's is committed to seeking out the finest in wearable fashion. Yeah, we want you to be the
best-dressed guy on the block, but clothes are also about comfort and practicality. We see no reason
to sacrifice one for the other. We want to be your rapturous love affair, your one-way ticket to the
cutting edge of living room style, of Bohemian Preppy.
Where we went: New Orleans
Our arrival in New Orleans emanated from a bit of collective soul searching.
The city seemed to whisper and stir the thoughts of a nation (and hey, it's tough to resist the
prospect of praline-crusted gulf fish and some damn fine jazz). Two years after the storm, a wondrous
ease of determination permeated the streets. Everybody we were fortunate enough to work with took us
right in, eager to share their city. With the population continuing to grow (this fall it reached 70%
of its pre-Katrina level), New Orleans undeniably remains one of the true gems of this country.
The Clark's crew highly recommends a visit. We're especially grateful for everyone's hospitality -
we couldn't have done it without you.
